Private Cajón del Maipo

Private Cajón del Maipo horseback ride from Santiago

On horseback through the Maipo hills, led by a local arriero

A horseback ride through the majestic Andes Mountains to enjoy unparalleled natural landscapes

Exploring Cajón del Maipo on horseback is a completely different experience from seeing it by car or on foot: the arriero (a traditional Chilean mountain horseman) sets the pace, and the trails the horses follow reach corners of the valley the main road never touches, across meadows, crystal-clear streams and views of the snow-capped Andes. This ride is designed for people who have never been on a horse, so no previous experience is required.

The ride takes place in the hamlet of Baños Morales, right next to El Morado Natural Monument, led by a local arriero who shares the culture of the Chilean huaso and the valley’s stories. The tour lasts about 10 hours from Santiago, ideal for families and groups of friends.

Get ready for a total immersion in the scenic beauty of this protected region.

Discover Chilean culture through the eyes of a genuine Andean huaso. These seasoned muleteers will share their ancestral Creole wisdom and fascinating local stories with you. A personalized adventure packed with activities. Every step you take on the back of your noble companion will bring you closer and closer to the essence of the untamed mountain range. A private tour ideal for families and groups of friends looking to enjoy an unforgettable experience in the heart of nature.

Before setting off, your guide and the arriero give a short lesson on handling the horse. They know the valley inside out and keep the group at a steady, comfortable pace for the entire route.

A guide exclusively for your group. An expert on the area who will take you to the best spots to enjoy the views and take the best photos.

Since this is a private tour, we’ll pick you up directly at your home or hotel. There’s no need to make any stops along the way to pick up other passengers… Straight to the mountains! Once you’ve made your reservation, you can contact the coordinator to adjust your pickup time. However, due to traffic conditions, we recommend leaving early to make the most of the day.
