Santa Rita is one of the founding wineries of the Maipo Valley, founded in 1880 by Domingo Fernández Concha, located in the Andean foothills of Alto Jahuel, in Buin, about 45 minutes from Santiago. The guided tour passes through the vineyards, the variety garden and the winemaking, aging and bottling cellars, before heading down to the underground cellars for a tasting of three reserve wines.
Those who want to can visit the winery’s Andean Museum afterward, with rooms dedicated to the Rapa Nui, Diaguita, Arica and Mapuche cultures.
It’s an unhurried walking visit, made for travelers who want to understand the history behind the wine as much as taste it.
